Your kitchen is the heart of your home and a place people naturally want to gather. That’s why you try to keep your kitchen sparkling.
It makes sense that a messy kitchen can make your whole house feel like a disaster. On the other hand, a shiny clean kitchen can instantly make you feel better about the state of the other rooms in your home.
Keeping your kitchen clean isn’t always easy. After all, you spend a lot of time there. But our simple guide will walk you through the steps to making your kitchen sparkle like new again.
Declutter the Counters
Chances are, your kitchen isn’t quite as dirty as you think it is. Clutter on the countertops can easily give the illusion of disaster. Start your deep clean by removing everything from your countertops that doesn’t belong there. You can’t start cleaning until the clutter is gone.
Tackle the Dishes
A clean kitchen starts with a clean sink, but a pile of dishes can make a clean sink feel unattainable. Put away any clean dishes and load your dishwasher. While it’s running, hand wash any dishes that are still in the sink. Dry and put them away immediately.
Dust
Using a microfiber cloth that will hold in dust particles, dust everything in your kitchen. Start with the tops of the cabinets, fridge, and light fixture. Then, work your way down, dusting cabinet doors, inside of cabinets, microwave, stovetop, etc.
Clean Appliances
Focus on the microwave, toaster, mixer, blender, and any other small appliances you have on the countertops. Wipe off the outside and the inside. Empty the crumb tray in your toaster. Use vinegar and hot water inside your microwave to remove stuck-on food.
Do the large appliances next. Scrub the inside and outside of the oven and dishwasher. Remove any expired food from the fridge and wash all the shelves with warm, soapy water. Use your vacuum and a clean attachment to clean out the bottom of the appliances. Clean appliances will help get your kitchen sparkling in no time.
Clean the Counters and Sink
Use that microfiber cloth and a cleaner to wipe your countertops and backsplash. Make sure to clean under anything that sits on your counters. Then scrub your sink and faucet until they sparkle using a cleaner appropriate for the type of sink you have.
Clean the Garbage Can
It might seem counterproductive to clean the place where you store your garbage, but the trash bin is still a part of your home, and keeping it clean will help the rest of your kitchen and home feel clean. First, empty the bin and clean the rim, inside and outside.
Finish with the Floors
The final step to a sparkling kitchen is tackling the floors. Sweep first before you pull out the mop. You might even need to sweep twice to get all the crumbs, dust, and dirt from the ground. Then, finish off with a mop and some cleaning solution to make those floors shine.
